Constituent Services/Family Liaison

The Office of Constituent Services is a bridge between IDOC and the community at large, providing timely information to address legitimate concerns regarding conditions of confinement. The office aims to build community relationships, enhance public awareness, and promote positive change.

The office supports IDOC's interaction with the public, improves communication with families and advocacy groups, and provides timely and reliable information, as permitted by law, regarding individuals in custody and department activities and outcomes.

The office communicates IDOC's vision, mission, and current policies, procedures, and programs; solicits public input and facilitates communication within the department and other groups; meets with community leaders and attends public meetings to discuss concerns, and effectively resolves problems to restore confidence in the agency.

The office also collects, analyzes, and reports data to executive staff regarding issues and resolutions of legitimate concerns made by the public and family or friends of individuals in custody. The office analyzes data to identify where: issues arise, spot trends, and improve practices.

The Family Liaison is part of the Constituent Services Office and is available to all families and friends with loved ones in IDOC custody. The Family Liaison serves as a second line of communication for family members to address needs, questions, and concerns. The Family Liaison is also a point of contact for visitors to IDOC who have questions or concerns that remain after speaking to facility staff.

You may contact us if you have a general inquiry or feel you have a legitimate concern. If your concern pertains to the care, custody, and supervision of an Individual in Custody, you should first contact the warden at their facility. If your concern pertains to an Individual in Custody on community supervision, you should first contact the parole supervisor in their area. The Constituent Services Team are happy to assist if you have remaining questions and concerns. Please note, this office serves as a conduit to foster communication between IDOC and family or friends of Individuals in Custody and does not circumvent departmental policies and procedures.

The Office of Constituent Services is open from 8 am-4 pm Monday through Friday. Please note the office handles a large volume of work daily, and our staff is multi-tasked with responding to electronic messages, letters, and telephone calls. Our staff makes every effort to address each question or complaint in an efficient and timely manner. Please allow 48 business hours for a response.
