Childcare

To help ensure the well-being of employees and their families, the Illinois Department of Corrections instituted the use of approved authorized dock time for childcare purposes due to COVID-19. This childcare leave will be considered protected and receive the same protection as FMLA for insurance purposes. While on COVID-19 childcare leave, employees will be in protected status and the State will continue to make their normal contributions. Employees on COVID-19 childcare leave will be billed by the Premium Collection Unit at CMS for their portion of premiums, due on the 25th of each month. If payment arrangements are needed, this can be requested through the Premium Collection Unit at 1-800-442-1300 or at cms.ben.pcu-cobra@illinois.gov. Please contact your facility Human Resources Representative or Benefits Coordinator for more information.

  • Call4Calm

A free and confidential support text line called Call4Calm is now available for Illinois residents experiencing stress and mental health issues related to Covid-19. Individuals who would like to speak with a mental health professional can text “TALK” to 552020, or for Spanish, “HABLAR” TO 552020. Call4Calm is free to use and individuals remain anonymous. Once someone sends a text to the hotline, within 24 hours they will receive a call from a counselor employed by a local community mental health center to provide support.
