To help ensure the well-being of employees and their families, the Illinois Department of Corrections instituted the use of approved authorized dock time for childcare purposes due to COVID-19. This childcare leave will be considered protected and receive the same protection as FMLA for insurance purposes. While on COVID-19 childcare leave, employees will be in protected status and the State will continue to make their normal contributions. Employees on COVID-19 childcare leave will be billed by the Premium Collection Unit at CMS for their portion of premiums, due on the 25th of each month.   • Call4Calm

A free and confidential support text line called Call4Calm is now available for Illinois residents experiencing stress and mental health issues related to Covid-19. Individuals who would like to speak with a mental health professional can text “TALK” to 552020, or for Spanish, “HABLAR” TO 552020. Call4Calm is free to use and individuals remain anonymous. Once someone sends a text to the hotline, within 24 hours they will receive a call from a counselor employed by a local community mental health center to provide support.
