Unpaid Internships
The Illinois Department of Corrections welcomes individuals who wish to participate in unpaid internships and has a variety to choose from for undergraduate and graduate level students. IDOC works with both instructors and professors to ensure that student interests as well as the university/college requirements are met.
To begin the process, you must first contact the facility liaison/internship coordinator where you wish to intern and provide a letter of approval from your university’s academic advisor. The facility Warden will review and determine if unpaid internship opportunities are available then have the liaison/internship coordinator let the prospective intern know.
If the Warden approves the request, the below required documents will be completed to proceed.
