Jon Fatheree | Deputy Director Region 3
Jon Fatheree was named Deputy Director of Region 3 in May 2026. Fatheree oversees the operations of the region's adult correctional centers. Before his appointment, he served as the Manager of the Office of Administrative Directives and Standards.
Jon Fatheree has more than 25 years of experience in correctional administration, compliance, operations, rehabilitation, and organizational leadership. In his previous role as the Manager of the Office of Administrative Directives and Standards for the Illinois Department of Corrections, he oversaw statewide compliance, policy development, external reviews, and accreditation efforts across 31 correctional facilities and adult transition centers. He was also the Illinois Department of Corrections' primary liaison to the American Correctional Association (ACA) and a certified ACA auditor.
Throughout his career, he has held progressive leadership roles, including Acting Warden, Acting Assistant Warden, Unit Superintendent, Clinical Services Supervisor, Shift Supervisor, Correctional Casework Supervisor, Correctional Counselor II, and Correctional Officer. His expertise spans correctional operations, strategic planning, budget management, policy development, staff training, labor relations, program administration, and accreditation. He has led cross-functional teams and played a key role in achieving ACA accreditation for correctional facilities.
Mr. Fatheree holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in university studies, with a focus in criminal justice and political science, from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, as well as an Associate of Applied Science in education from Southeastern Illinois College.
