In this role, Jones oversees the operations of adult correctional centers, adult transition centers, and the Reception and Classification Center within the region. Prior to his appointment as Deputy Director, he served as Warden of the Illinois River Correctional Center (IRCC).

Deputy Director Jones began his career with the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice (IDJJ) in 2001 as a Juvenile Justice Specialist, where he ensured the safety and security of youth and staff. He was promoted to Juvenile Justice Youth and Family Specialist in early 2015 and later that year, in October 2015, to Juvenile Justice Supervisor. In 2022, he was promoted to Assistant Warden of Programs at KLSRC, where he built strong connections between the facility and the community to support individuals with the resources needed for successful re-entry. In February 2024, Jones was named Day-to-Day Warden at IRCC and was officially appointed Warden in October 2024.

During his tenure with the Illinois Department of Corrections, Mr. Jones has served in numerous roles, including External Audit Team Member, Facility Audit Committee Member, Crisis Team Member, Tactical Team Member, Facility Backup Security Specialist, Firearms Range Instructor, Employee Review Board Chair, Adjustment Committee Member, and Facility Training Coordinator. Mr. Jones graduated from North Central University in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a minor in criminal justice.
