Martha Dittmer | Deputy Chief Parole District 2 - 5
Martha Dittmer was named Deputy Chief of Parole for Districts 2-5 in May 2023. In this position, she oversees the supervision of parole staff and parolees in 99 counties throughout the state.
Deputy Chief Dittmer began her career as a Correctional Officer at Dwight Correctional Center in October 1999. Dittmer transferred into the Parole Division in 2001 as a District 1 Juvenile Agent. Dittmer later became a member of the district 3 Sex Offender Supervision Unit in 2013, where she also temporarily held the assignment of the Sex Offender Supervision Unit (SOSU) Commander. Dittmer most recently served as the Commander for the Decatur Parole office beginning in 2021 her appointment to Deputy Chief of Parole.
During Dittmer’s tenure as commander, she worked closely with SOSU throughout the state with continued development of protocol and policies that currently govern the supervision of paroled sex offenders. She has also assisted in expanding the training for the supervision of the individuals who are on parole for Violation of Order of Protection. Dittmer has worked together with area mental health boards, the Justice Community Innovation Network, and received her CADC certification. Most recently, she was a part of the Parole Division American Correctional Association Accreditation.
Prior to her career with the Department, she worked for the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department. During this time, she was a Substitute Teacher and received specialized training at Boys Town in Lincoln, Nebraska working with high-risk families.
Deputy Chief Dittmer attended Illinois State University and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice in 1992. She has continued to expand her education through a multitude of trainings and classes within the Department and outside, including Leadership Summits.
