Dion Dixon | Deputy Chief District 1 South and East

Dion Dixon was named deputy chief for Parole District 1 South and East areas on March 1, 2013. In his position, he oversees operations of all adult parole offices within Will County, southern and eastern region of Cook County and the Sex Offender Supervision Unit for District 1.

Dixon began his career of state service in 1993 with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) as a caseworker. In 1996, he transferred to the DCFS Division of Child Protection as an investigator.

Dixon joined the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) as a parole agent in 2001. He later became a member of the newly formed Sex Offender Supervision Unit in 2003 and was promoted to supervisor there in 2006, serving in that position until being appointed to his most recent position.

During his tenure as supervisor, he worked closely with the Illinois Sex Offender Management Board, Illinois State Police, Illinois Department of Children and Family Services Licensing Division and the Chicago Police Sex Offender Registration Unit to help define IDOC policy and procedures that currently govern the supervision of paroled sex offenders. Dixon also assisted with the development protocol for the supervision of GPS-monitored sex offenders and violation of Order of Protection parolees.

Dixon attended Lincoln College in Lincoln, Ill.; and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Corrections and Criminal Justice from Chicago State University.
