Corrections Assessment Specialist
Job Description:
1. Conducts periodic professional comprehensive and structured interviews with an assigned caseload of offenders in state custody to evaluate the risk, assets, and criminogenic needs of each, modifying assessments as warranted; applies relevant pre-screen and dynamic assessment tools to prioritize individual treatment needs.
2. Employs assessment results to develop and implement programming plans to aide in adjustment to incarceration, and rehabilitation promotion and support designed to reduce the risk of recidivism; develops and implements new program initiatives, such as evidence-based, cognitive behavioral, and reentry programming; evaluates and recommends modifications to assessment tools or procedures.
3. Prepares and submits comprehensive written reports detailing treatment of offenders; maintains all required case management documentation and records.
4. Participates in preparing the reentry case plan for offenders assigned to caseload; makes recommendations for Mandatory Supervised Release (MSR) to the Illinois Prisoner Review Board (PRB) based on evidence of treatment progress and the community reintegration case plan.
5. Performs reassessments of offenders completing Mandatory Supervised Release and works cooperatively with assigned parole agents to reinforce and enhance case planning and augment linkage to community services.
Education and Experience:
Requires possession of a master’s degree from an accredited college or university evidencing completion of a program major of social work, psychology, or a directly related field. Requires one year of professional direct-client casework experience, preferably in a correctional setting, that includes conducting risk and needs assessments, and, performing one of the following functions: client intake interviews, assessments or other evaluative processes; professional individual or group counseling; or, providing reentry services to individuals transitioning from incarceration into the community.

Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
Tuesday-Saturday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
Sunday-Thursday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
Pay Scale:
$4821 to $7304

Benefit time for new employees includes three (3) personal business days, ten (10) vacation days, and twelve (12) sick days per year.
