Daniel Monti | Chief of Staff
Daniel Monti was appointed Chief of Staff at the Illinois Department of Corrections in January 2025. In this role, Monti oversees Human Resources, Planning and Research, Training, Labor Relations and works closely with the IDOC Executive team to ensure the Department’s mission is upheld. As a positive transformational leader in the Illinois Department of Corrections, Monti leads by developing strategic procedures to optimize employee and departmental performance. Before this appointment, Monti served as Warden of Centralia Correctional Center.
A veteran employee of the Illinois Department of Corrections, Monti began his career at Tamms Correctional Center in 1998 as a Correctional Officer. Monti was promoted to Correctional Lieutenant in 2004, working in various positions such as the facility’s Security Specialist and Institutional Tactical Commander. In 2008, Monti was promoted to Major/Shift Supervisor. Monti then transferred to Big Muddy River Correctional Center in 2012 and served as a Major/Shift Supervisor until transferring to Pinckneyville Correctional Center in 2018. In 2020, Monti was appointed Assistant Warden of Operations at Centralia Correctional Center. In 2021, Monti was appointed Acting Warden of Shawnee Correctional Center and was subsequently appointed Warden of Shawnee Correctional Center. In 2022, Monti was appointed Warden of Centralia Correctional Center.
Monti has a Master’s degree in Administration of Justice and Security from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor’s in Social Work from Southern Illinois University.
